Pre-school class
The pre-school class is a voluntary school within the public school organization. Since January 1, 1998, the municipality is obliged to offer children a place in the pre-school class from the year the child is six years old until when the child will start carrying out his or her compulsory school attendance. Pre-school activities are considered as education in same sense as other schools.
The education in the pre-school class stimulates each child's development and learning and is a base for the continued school education. From the autumn 1998 the pre-school classes and the compulsory school have a new, national curriculum, Lpo 94.
The pre-school class is free of charge.
In Borgholm's municipality there are pre-school classes in the schools in Åkerbo, Köpingsvik, Borgholm (Viktoriaskolan), Gärdslösa, Rälla and Runsten.
