Corona – English
Below you can read what the municipality is doing to minimize the spread and manage the effects of the new Coronavirus
The municipality is working on keeping all sectors running as close to normal as possible.
Together we can prevent the spread of infection!
The municipality is following recommendations from the Public Health Agency.
- Wash your hands often
- Sneeze and cough into the bend of the arm
- Stay at home if you feel sick, even if your symptoms are mild
Several events, courses and travel, as well as some political meetings are being cancelled
We protect our elderly population and other groups at risk by
- Prioritising those who are most sick
- Visits to our care homes are discouraged
- Closing our meeting points
- Persons over 70 years of age should limit their contact with other people as much as possible. This involves, for example, avoiding public transport, shops or public spaces frequented by people.
If many people are sick or need to stay at home there may be a shortage of staff, causing some services, to be cancelled temporarily. These include services such as cleaning, social activities, walks, relief- and guide services and ordinary business.
School and childcare
Schools have informed all parents that it is important that their children also stay home if they experience symptoms of a common cold.
Some education is now being delivered digitally.
Within schools and pre-schools this means some smaller facilities will be united. Public preschools are for the time-being closed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discourages unnecessary travel to all countries.
Companies are affected
It is a challenging time for many of our businessmen and women as many avoid travel, shopping and many events are cancelled. Less tourists are coming to Öland. The municipality is trying to help and hopes that everyone can try to support their local businesses and restaurants as much possible.
Your help is valuable!
It is impressive to see how we all come together and help each other, not to mention how our staff continues to deliver important services.
